To close this year`s 22nd Edition, Festival Accès Asie, in collaboration with Kabir Centre for Arts & Culture, presents Gundecha Brothers – outstanding Indian Dhrupad singers and percussionist – for a truly special concert. The Gundecha Brothers feature three musicians, Umakant and Ramakant Gundecha, Indian Dhrupad vocalists, and Akhilesh Gundecha, percussionist. Together they have become the world’s leading interpreters of Dhrupad, a style of classical Indian chants based on Naada Yoga, a philosophical system premised on the idea that the entire cosmos and its contents, including human beings, consist of sound vibrations called the Naada. Centre Kabir introduces this spiritual ancestral Indian music to bring awareness of Indian art forms to the Western world. This concert has also been organized in collaboration with the Dance Faculty of UQAM, where The Gundecha Brothers will be giving a workshop during the week of the concert, and is also the closing event of the Symposium sur les écritures artistiques nomades.
